I'm back! | Gingerbread men are everywhere

I know, I know. Where have you been?! I'm genuinely really sorry to those that enjoyed reading my blog, please know that it's been greatly appreciated! I'm very grateful to those that have messaged me or tweeted me saying that I need to get back to blogging and the fact that some of you have stayed subscribed to my blog is really very kind and sweet of you. So thank you very much for sticking with me.

In all honestly, I was a bit stuck with my blog. I ended up not knowing what to write about and then would feel guilty that I wasn't posting and that just eventually turned into me not posting at all and that just resulted in a complete lack of motivation. I won't go on too long because I just want to get back to my blog now and start a-fresh. I will do an instagram update post at some point so for those of you that want to know what I've been up to can find out that way. Christmas time is here and surprise surprise gingerbread men is what I'm blogging about today. What better way to return to my blog with a post about these smiley little faces?

I'm still very much in love with anything gingerbread man related, you'd think a now 23 year old would have something better to do but nope, here I am squealing at the cuteness overload.

Purchases from Primark, Costa, Waitrose

I've bought two items in this theme recently, one being some fleeced leggings from Primark and the other being various edible versions of them, can't beat a bit of good food. (Just because it's not exactly the healthiest doesn't mean it doesn't count as good food ok!)

In the photo right at the top, is a few things I like the look of and will eventually get around to either looking at in more detail and possibly buying. I've already tried the large gingerbread man, the one in the packaging and while it wasn't to my taste as it was the soft gingerbread rather than the biscuit kind, I thought I'd still include it as it LOOKS great and there are people out there that like the soft edible variety of it.

I know it's very close to Christmas now and some of you may have already done your christmas shopping, I know there will be a lot like me that still have some presents to get, oops. I say to myself every year that I'll get it all done by the end of October but in reality we all know that won't happen. But hey, wishful thinking right? One day I might actually stick to it.

And not included in the image above but look at this - a gingerbread man shaped corkboard. HOW COOL. I don't know if I'd ever use it though, aha.

Anyone bought anything gingerbread man related or seen something lately that I might like to know about? Comment below! x

OOTD - It's a Paris Thing

Hey! Another OOTD post, ooh.  Sorry for the absence last week, my camera charger has broken so I've not been able to take many blog photos unless they're with my phone. I know they're not the best quality but it'll have to do until I can get a replacement charger, which hopefully will be soon.

I love this top so much, it really wants to make me go back to Paris. Anything with a city on, Paris, London, New York - I seem to become obsessed with and have to buy. Must be the wanderlust within me.

I'm also not one to wear shorts very often at all, but I went for it and got them anyway. Why not get out of my comfort zone eh? They're so comfy to wear and you can wear them with tights. And the good thing about them is they're really versatile, I could wear them with something casual like this outfit or dress it up for a night out.

Shorts - New Look
Shoes - New Look

(An all New Look 'look' but can you blame me when I get a very very good staff discount and the clothes are so nice!)

OOTD - high waisted gingham leggings

Leggings - Ark
Shirt - Primark
Necklace - Primark
Boots - Next

Yes you’ve seen it, my first OOTD.

Look at my leggings, guys. I love patterned ones, I’ve just never had the guts to wear them before. But look here I am, wearing some! I’ve never been one for leggings that are ‘out there’ (sparkly leopard print ones… no thank you.) so these will be do perfectly. Gingham's very on trend at the moment, I've seen it in so many shops on the high street and it's on the catwalks too - I'm looking at you Oscar de la Renta and Balmain. Not to mention the photos of Olivia Palermo wearing them. And with pastel colours being everywhere - especially pink and mint green, they're the perfect choice of colour to add to the outfit.

I like the pattern, because with it being monochrome, it can go with basically any colour jumper/shirt/t-shirt. So it may be that this little item may become a staple in my wardrobe. Most importantly, they are not see-through. Which I love. Seriously, I get so paranoid over new clothing and hate any sign of see-through quality, so I was very pleased that these are not like that in the slightest. You’d think with the white it would be slightly transparent, but the grey and black pattern offsets that and as long as you wear nude coloured or light colours underneath you will be fine. I can’t think of anything worse than walking down the street and people being able to see right through them, which unfortunately can happen with some leggings out there. Instead, I can wear these and not worry about what my bum looks like from the back, yay. (At least I’m not asking ‘does my bum look big in this’!)

They are so comfy. They’re high waisted and fit really nicely around the waist and the legs in general. They don’t sag, because there’s nothing worse than buying skinny jeans and/or leggings and them not actually being skin fitting. Speaking of comfort, no worries at all if I end up eating a huge meal and a food baby arrives aha. These lovely things will hide that just fine.

Lauren Aquilina and Leeds

Last week I went up to Leeds to stay with a friend!
(My camera charger broke the night before sadly. So I was only able to take photos on my phone, excuse the not as good quality!)

A big part of going up was for seeing Lauren Aquilina in concert. I love her songs (which by the way, if you haven't heard of, youtube her now) and have wanted to see her live for ages and the next thing I know my friend has bought tickets to see her and asked if I wanted to come too! So I bought my ticket and I've now finally seen her live yay. It was such a good night! I also got to meet her, get an autograph, got a hug and two photos. How cool is that?! She's such a sweet person and I'd definitely go to another of her gigs again. I don't actually have any photos of the event apart from the one of me and her (I look like a devil with the flash in my eyes but I actually don't care. Fan girling that I got a photo with her!) purely because I was more interested in actually listening to the songs and being there than spending the time holding up my camera to take photos. I will hold my hands up now and say that I have done that in the past, but not spent a lot of time doing it. Although at one point when she sang one of her new songs off her new upcoming EP - she asked everyone to put their phones and cameras away. We were the second ever to hear this new song of hers (I went to the second night of the tour) and she wanted it could be between us (aw how cute) and it was fantastic that everyone actually listened to her and there were no flashing recording lights or cameras/phones in her face to be seen. Her support act, Gavin James was also very very good, such a good voice. Bought his EP straight away.

Check out her new song from her upcoming EP 'Liars'. I love it and I hope I at least convert one of you into a fan of hers! Join us crazy lot.

I spent the day in York before going to see Lauren Aquilina, unfortunately I don't have really any photos of my trip there as it was pouring it down with rain and we were inside shops most of the day, including this amazing Designer Outlet (hello beautiful Ted Baker bags) and a lovely pub for lunch.

I also ate a lot. Especially sweet food, hence the many Instagram photos @ ciaosophiee. Ever since coming back from Australia I've been obsessed with frozen yoghurt, so of course I had to try some in the city. But I do have to admit I got probably a bit too much brain freeze than is normal as it was freezing weather. Not exactly the right time of weather to be eating that, oh well it was good and that's what matters aha.

And as you can tell from the first photo, I finally found the Wonderland magazine! Emma Watson is on the current cover and has guest edited it herself, as soon as I found out I had to buy it. I'm sure that Harry Potter fans out there have heard by now the revelations from J.K Rowling, oh my god. So I've been chomping at the bit waiting to read the interview. None of the shops near me have had it in stock sadly so I was getting worried I wouldn't be able to buy it before it went aha. Went into Leeds and saw one but it was badly damaged so I didn't buy it, then on my penultimate day there, my friend went in to buy something and saw another copy by the tills and as soon as she told me, I jumped at the chance and bought it. Leaving there a very happy girl.

terry's chocolate orange and pecan popcorn bar recipe

I'm sorry for not posting last week but I've been so busy with work. I always feel really guilty, so I'm sorry! I should really schedule posts but I don't like them being published when I'm not there, just incase I've missed a spelling mistake or something - I like to give it one last check before posting.

On one of my days off I went to my local shopping centre and my mum and I went into Pret, where we found these popcorn bars that were new in. They were so tasty and it gave me an idea.. to make my own! The one we ate was white chocolate and caramel, but I wanted to try and make my own recipe so I came up with this.

Makes 16
  • 200g marshmallows (I used pink and white but either is fine)
  • 75g popcorn kernels
  • 75g unsalted butter
  • 75g pecan nuts
  • 1 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 2 pieces of terry's chocolate orange

  1. Heat a pan with the sunflower oil then drop in the popcorn kernels and wait until they're fully popped.
  2. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a separate pan and once melted, mix in the marshmallows until they are also melted.
  3. Break the pecan nuts into pieces.
  4. Add the pecans into a bowl along with the popcorn and marshmallow mix.
  5. Mix all together thoroughly until all of it is coated evenly.
  6. Fill a 18 x 20 dish (you can use whatever you have available, but that's the measurements of the dish I used) and press the mixture down to make the bars. Put it in the fridge for one hour. Then melt the terry's chocolate orange in a bowl and wait until you can take the dish out.
  7. An hour in, take it out of the fridge and coat the top with the melted terry's chocolate orange. Then cut it into however many pieces you want (I did 16 with this recipe) as it's already hardened at this point and if you left it for the full two hours it would be too hard to cut.
  8. Put it back into the fridge and wait for the remaining hour. When the times up, serve on a plate and the best part of it all, you get to eat them.

If you try making this, I hope you enjoy it! They are perfect with a cup of hot chocolate or coffee.

what's in my handbag?

I love these kind of posts (I'm so nosey but aren't we all when it comes to these?) and I thought it's about time for me to do one too.

My bag is a lovely purple Longchamp bag. I got it for Christmas just before I headed off to Australia last year. So I've had it just over a year and it's lasted so well! A great thing about it is that if it ever gets dirty, I can just stick it in the washing machine and it comes out brand new. I hate any kind of marks on a bag or purse (yes I'm that kind of person that inspects every detail of one until I buy it) so it's fab.

I'm also someone who hates mess in my bag, I make sure I throw all rubbish and old bus tickets away when I get home aha. And go through any receipts just so that my purse doesn't become bulky.

I have an A5 folder from WHSmith to keep in my work training booklets. And I have a voltarol patch in there too because I kept hurting my back at work when I first started, luckily I'm more sensible now but it's there just incase.

A Thomas Sabo 2014 diary just to keep track of any days I've got planned, appointments etc.

A Kindle! My dad kindly gave it to me as I was discussing with my mum whether to buy one or not and he mentioned that he's had one for ages and hasn't used to so I could. How nice is that?! As soon as I finished The Hunger Games, I downloaded my first Kindle eBook (I was recommended to read Divergent - such a good book!) and I haven't put it down since. Every opportunity I get before work, on the train, in the staff room - I'm reading it. It's my dad's cover so not the most exciting of covers aha but I did see a gorgeous orange and pink one online so I might just treat myself to that at some point.

And my glasses. I wear contacts more than them but I have them with me to read just incase.

My Ted Baker purse which I am in love with. I've had it for years but being too worried to use it and scratch it, I've kept it in it's box and not used it. Yes I'm also one of those people. But my sister convinced me to use it and I'm so glad I did because it's so pretty. And my Radley handbag which again I didn't want to use aha but I do. It's England and it rains a lot, as everyone living here knows.

My iPod and my phone. I don't know if you can tell from the photo but I unfortunately have quite a few scratches on the screen of my phone. I dropped it on the ground at the beginning of the month, tripping up a pavement in town and falling over. Luckily it wasn't in the centre but I was near traffic lights so quite a few people saw me. Oh the embarassement.

My house keys, with the cutest little keyrings. Both gifts, the cupcake was a birthday present a few years ago and the kangaroo was a Christmas present from family friends in Australia the one before I was heading off to visit them.

A little box of peppermints. On the box it says "As soon as I start thinking that I'm sensible and sane, the random hedgehod comes along and fiddles with my brain". It is the cutest thing ever, they're part of the Edward Monkton series - by the artist and poet Giles Andreae. He does all sorts of different cartoon characters on merchandise. I saw the hedgehog on a mug the other day and I know at some point I have to get that.

Apart from the mints, the only thing that's missing is some sort of sweet! I usually have chewing gum but I haven't bought any in weeks so this reminds me I need to go get some. And maybe the odd creme egg - f I had one with me now it would be long gone before the photo was taken! It is Easter after all and I'm a sucker for those little goodies.

I have a little pouch I got from Claire's Accessories where I put one of my concelear's - the Lasting Perfection one. The Liz Earle I keep at home. A Carmex lip balm, a few plasters because I'm prone to getting blisters fun fun and a fold in hair brush. And my Radley mirror that comes with a little pouch - excuse both photos of my arm appearing in the mirror and my phone screen.

Vaseline hand cream with pure aloe in it, smells so nice. A hygiene gell, I'm well aware they don't actually work that well so I never replace it for washing my hands, I only use it if I'm eating something sticky like sweets or a packet of crisps. And a body spray from Boots. I only recently bought that, a friend of mine had it in her bag and let me borrow some, it smelt lovely that I had to get some myself. It doesn't smell artifical like most body sprays, it's nice and refreshing. It's the Vanilla one, from the Boots own Natural Collection. There are quite a few different ones but I found that this was the nicest as it's not too strong.

Also, I'd just like to thank Becca for helping me with my layout, I love it, thank you!

Primark gym wear

So I'm keeping at my new year's resolution and I bought lots of gym clothing... at Primark! I was really surprised when I found out a while back that Primark now has gym wear. And now I've had the chance to try them on ready to start running again. The gym section is fairly new to the store and I thought I'd try some of the things on and wow they're really good. I bought 5 items as pictured in the photo above, excluding the trainers as I bought them in John Lewis. I got a flourescent pink sleeveless top, black sleeveless top, 2 three quarter length running leggings - grey with a thick line of pink at the top. And a grey running jumper as there's no way I'm going outside in this weather without something warm on top.

Here's an OOTD type photo, showing you the different tops! I really like them.

There are a few other things in the section that I didn't get but I'll say what they are anyway just incase anyone hasn't had a chance to look at them yet and wants to know what the whole section includes. There are 2 other types of running leggings, a full length black pair and a three quarter length black pair. But I didn't like the black so that's why I chose the pink and grey twice. They also have a running jacket but they didn't have my size and the one available swamped me so maybe in a while I'll go back and check. And the other two items are running tank tops, both in the black and pink. They also have gym bags and water bottles if I remember correctly. I didn't see anything else in the section but there may be more that I don't know about.

They are really cosy and I'm really picky when it comes to running leggings, I hate if they're really skin tight but these are personally just tight enough, not too tight or too loose so I'm very happy with my purchases. And I love the pink!! I'm not one to wear really bright colours but there's no harm in trying something new and hey at least people can see me coming! Hopefully that means no more cyclists coming up too close or dogs jumping up at me... although that always seems to happen when you're running.

Instagramming my way through January

(Top left being most recent - bottom right)
  • Buying sweets from Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe! As you can tell, I haven't done so well in some of my new years resolutions... oops. Strawberry bon bons and peanut brittle, I used to love that when I was younger but the brittle part of it was far too sugary.
  • I'm finally reading the Hunger games trilogy after buying the books ages and ages ago. Reading Mockingjay now!
  • My Lauren Aquilina tickets arrived!! Exciting.
  • (Two of the photos) Wagamamas with my brother and dad. We shared a yasai gyoza (vegetable dumplings) as a starter, not as nice as it has been though unfortunately. They tasted really really rubbery. My main was nice though - yasai yaki soba (noodles with egg, beansprouts, peppers, pring onions, fried shallots, pickled ginger) yummm.
  • I got given these lovely earrings as a 21st birthday present, they're so pretty!
  • First time trying something at Spaghetti Johns - hot chocolate made with real chocolate, SO good. With a cantuccini biscuit.
  • Ice cream - peanut, caramel and chocolate ice cream scoop and a mint chocolate chip scoop. It was so so good but it's probably a bit pricey so I don't know how often I'll go for a meal out. For hot chocolate though, well that's another story. I haven't been back yet though, so there's an excuse for me to go.
  • Nando's with a friend (we went to the Spaghetti johns that I mentioned above, after for dessert aha). I didn't have chips with it this time, thinking I'd be healthy for new my years resolution... ha. Fat chance of that. And went for a corn on the cob which I am never doing again. The corn got stuck in my teeth so much, so no thank you.
  • I bought my first ever Yankee Candle! Salted Caramel. I lit it a few days ago and it's really nice, a bit too strong if you leave it for a long time but I like it.
  • Costa with a friend. I had a really nice black coffee and we both had salted caramel muffins which are new in. And they are amazing.
  • Home made profiteroles made by my mum for our New Years day dessert.
Quite an eventful month so far! I hope everyone's had an equally good first month of the year. I'm off to Ikea tomorrow with my mum which I'm really looking forward to as I love that place. And then we're going to this really nice Chinese place for lunch, excited.

Ciaté mini paint pallete

I got this lovely box for Christmas from my auntie and I absolutely LOVE it. I already would have loved a Ciaté nail polish as it was on my wishlist but my auntie didn't know of this and according to my mum, actually picked it up wondering if I would like it and asked my mum who then said I had it on my wishlist aha. Weird huh?

I've actually never tried them before, the reason why I became so fascinated with them was because of a trip to Cambridge last year and I saw them in John Lewis and straight away loved the bow decoration on them and thought they were so cute. I'm very very glad that they have turned out to be just as good as I thought they would be. I just don't want them to run out because it'll ruin the pretty box aha, but I guess that gives me an excuse to buy some more later on down the line as I love painting my nails, so yay. It's probably a bit on the pricey side of nail polishes that are out there, as they are £9 each but the giftset works out cheaper and either way I personally think they are worth the money. If you wear nail polish a lot and would get a good amount of use out of them, why not treat yourself if you can - that's how I see it. Then at least you aren't wasting your money because you'll get good wear out of them.

I choose the 'amazing gracie' and 'antique brooch' for my first try of the polishes and pleased with the results. They've lasted 4 days without chipping, 5 with minor chips and even now that I've been wearing them for a week, they are fairly chipped but on my pink fingers and thumbs they are basically like new. The brush is so easy to use as well, because they have long handles my hands are steadier makes it a lot simpler to apply onto my nail and keeps my  I've also put a top coat on them, the Barry M one - another of my nail polish brand favourites.

The set includes: (from the antique brooch colour and clockwise from there) spending spree 108, mistress 016, power dressing 054, heirloom 116, dangerous affair 013, looking glass 131, amazing gracie 133 and antique brooch 113. I love the names of them and that the set is a mix of dark colours and nude, so much to choose from now.

I don't know what to go for next, as tomorrow is my day off work I'll probably spend some time doing my nails again. Maybe I'll go for the red.. or the but you never know, I'm so indecisive. We'll see!

favourite tv shows of 2013 (part 2)

Part 2 of my previous post. I hope the last one gave some of you some new shows to watch!

  • Broadchurch
"British television crime drama involving the death of a young boy and the search for his killer"

I'm a huge huge fan of crime dramas, so this was absolutely amazing. That is really all I have to say, the twists of the show and the whole storyline - I loved it. David Tennant and Olivia Coleman's acting skills were A+. Go watch it.

Watch if you particularly like/d: Sherlock, Case Histories
  • Devious Maids
"The series centers on four Latina maids working in the homes of Beverly Hills’ wealthiest and most powerful families, and a newcomer who made it personal after a maid was murdered and determined to uncover the truth behind her demise, and in the process become an ally in their lives."

I really enjoyed this. It has really good actresses from it (two of them are best known as Carla from Scrubs and Hilda from Ugly Betty). Eva Longoria helps in producing the show and if you loved Desperate Housewives, I'm sure you'll like this too.

Watch if you particularly like/d: Desperate Housewives
  • Graceland
"A group of undercover agents from various law enforcement agencies in the United States, including the DEA, the FBI, and the ICE, live together in a confiscated Southern California beach house known as "Graceland". Rookie FBI agent Mike Warren is assigned to the house fresh out of Quantico training."

It has Aaron Tveit in it. Enough said. Ok I will say a bit more than that.. any crime drama fanatic will love this show. I love the storylines, they're so detailed and I find that if I can't miss out on one little detail otherwise I'll miss out on the 'big' parts of the show, so be careful and watch everything that is going on.

    Watch if you particularly like/d:
Any of the CSI series, The Mentalist, Chicago Fire
  • My Mad Fat Diary
"Set in Stamford, Lincolnshire in 1996, My Mad Fat Diary follows the story of 16-year-old, 231 pound girl, Rae, who has just left a psychiatric hospital, where she has spent four months. She begins to reconnect with her best friend, Chloe, who is unaware of Rae's mental health and body image problems, believing she was in France for the past four months. Rae attempts to keep this information from her while also trying to impress Chloe's friends."

I loved this show. I can't think of anything like it to compare it to so I've left the bottom part out. If you like shows that revolve around a friendship group and their lives then this show is for you. It's brilliant. Channel 4 do great dramas and Sharon Rooney (plays Rae) is fantastic in it. I like how the show brings awareness to mental health and shows how someone suffering from those psychological problems deals with it in day to day life and how it affects those around her. It's not always so deep though, there's some comedy included and some feel good moments to balance it out. A very very good show.
  • Orange Is The New Black
"The series revolves around Piper Chapman, an engaged woman living in New York City, who is sentenced to 15 months in a women's federal prison for transporting a suitcase full of drug money to her former girlfriend who is an international drug smuggler. The offense occurred ten years prior to the start of the series, and in that time Chapman had moved on to a quiet law-abiding life among New York's upper middle class."

I've never watched a Prison drama before, I've heard of Prisoners Wives but I never got around to watching it. This is SO good though, not at all what I was expecting, it's so so funny. They explain each character's past in detail and the story lines are fantastic.

    Watch if you particularly like/d:
  • Orphan Black"A science fiction television series starring Tatiana Maslany as several identical women who are revealed to be clones. The series focuses on Sarah Manning, a woman who assumes the identity of her clone, Elizabeth Childs, after witnessing the latter's suicide."

I wasn't sure about this at first because I just based it off the description, but to my suprise I loved this show. The acting is fantastic, I mean one actress playing multiple different characters? It's beyond me how she can manage that. So don't be like me and read the description and think "I'm not sure if I'll like it or not". Watch an episode first and then decide. A few minutes in and I was already hooked and can't wait for the next series.

Watch if you particularly like/d: Doctor Who

favourite tv shows of 2013 (part 1)

As those who follow me on twitter will already know, I am a huge fan of tv shows, especially American and Canadian ones so I've made a list of my favourite ones. By favourites of 2013, I don't mean overall tv show favourites - that list would be too long! But I mean the series that started in 2013.

I won't put any spoilers on here for obvious reasons, don't worry! And I've put a few similar shows underneath all of them to make it easier to figure out if you'd like watching one or not. The descriptions all come from Wikipedia so I don't take any credit for them.

I'm splitting this post into two as there are 12 shows in total as it would be too long otherwise.

  • Ravenswood
"A spin-off of Pretty Little Liars. Set in the fictional town of Ravenswood, Pennsylvania, the series will follow five strangers whose lives become intertwined by a deadly curse that has plagued their town for generations. They must dig into the town's dark past to solve the mysterious curse."

I LOVE Pretty Little Liars so of course had to start watching it. Caleb was never my favourite character on the show but even if you don't like him, you grow to like him in this show. And for those that have seen Make It or Break It, Nicole Anderson stars in it (played Kelly Parker) and is a main character. If you like PLL, I'm pretty sure you'll like this show too.

Watch if you particularly like/d: Pretty Little Liars, Twisted, The Lying Game, Make it or Break It
  • Reign
"An historical fiction television series following the early years of Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1557 France."

I'm not one to watch historical fiction series, even though saying that, I don't actually know of any? I did
enjoy History at school so I like the whole historical aspect of it, although I don't know how accurate this show is exactly. I watch series like Downton Abbey, The Paradise etc but they're not exactly historical in the sense like this show is so I wasn't sure what this would be like. But I really like it, aside from the really cool costumes they wear (which are so pretty by the way, especially the hairstyles they put them in), the storyline's really good. Again, there's a kind of mystery to it like with.. surprise surpise Pretty Little Liars (I swear not every show on this post will link back to that!) so that's made me a fan. Plus there always has to be a love triangle doesn't there, for once I don't even know who I'd pick aha.

Watch if you particularly like/d: Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl (I've read on quite a few sites that people call it 'Gossip Girl but with Tudors' and that is so true!)
  • The Carrie Diaries
"A prequel to the television series Sex and the City and based on the book. The first season of the show focuses on Carrie Bradshaw during her junior year of high school in 1984, and she explores life in New York while interning at a law office."

I've watched quite a few of the Sex and the City episodes, not all of them though and I've seen both films so I know a bit about it, but then I guess you don't have to have seen them to know about it as this is the 'beginning' of Carrie's life. It's really good. I prefer series 1 to 2 but series 2 is only half way through. The fashion is really interesting, I watch a lot of it for that!

    Watch if you particularly like/d:
     90210, The O.C, Privileged
  • The Fosters
"The series follows the lives of the Foster family, a same-sex couple raising children together."

This is a really sweet show. I love shows that include big families - my favourite being Brothers and Sisters. And since that ended, The Fosters has been my fill in for that gap aha. It's more of a feel good show than anything else, as the story lines are good but not as good as B&S. Although I suppose I'm comparing the two a lot.

Watch if you particularly like/d: Parenthood, Brothers and Sisters, Life Unexpected, Everwood, Switched at Birth
  • Twisted
"The series focuses on charming sixteen-year-old Danny Desai, who killed his aunt when he was eleven. Having spent five years in juvenile detention, he is released and returns to his hometown of Green Grove, New York. While trying to rekindle old friendships and facing the challenges of dealing with his judgmental peers, Danny becomes the prime suspect in the murder of a classmate..."

This reminds me a lot of Pretty Little Liars, with the whole mysterious vibes going on. I'm not really 100% sure on what I think of it yet but I do like it so I'll still include it in this list. It's interesting though because after every episode they leave something that makes you want to find out more.. (hence the PLL reminder) but I like that about it, mystery.

Watch if you particularly like/d: Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game, Ravenswood
  • Witches of East End
"Set in the fictional seaside town of East End, the series centers around a family of immortal witches known as the Beauchamps: Joanna and her two daughters Freya and Ingrid, as well as her sister Wendy."
A family of witches, you might think it's trying to be Charmed which I thought at first but it's very very good. I used to watch Charmed when it was on and loved it so if you were/are a fan of that show, I'd definitely recommend watching this.

Watch if you particularly like/d: Charmed, The Secret Circle, Pretty Little Liars

2014 new years resolutions

Happy New year everyone! I hope you all had a really nice New Years Eve and New Years Day.
Like a lot of people, I've made new years resolutions, both to do with my blog and outside of it.
  • Start running again
  • Eat healthier + stop wasting money unnecessarily on processed food (sweets, chocolate etc)
  • Drink more water
  • Take up driving lessons again
  • Schedule regular posts on blog - wednesdays and saturdays
  • Enrol in April for the Mandarin Chinese course at the OU
  • Make a memory jar or box for 2014
I don't think these are too difficult so I should definitely be able to stick to them! Haven't made too many plans yet, but some exciting events coming up. I have my cousin's baby shower to go to at the end of this month as well as going to see a friend in Leeds in February to see Lauren Aquilina together. Hopefully I'll make more nice plans too, I know I'd love to go to London soonish as shock horror the last time I went was in the summer.

Have you got any exciting events coming up? I hope this year is a great one for you all.
